Changes to the Code of Ethics: Overview and Training Opportunities

Changes to NAR's Code of Ethics and Professional Standards Policies were
approved by the Board of Directors on November 13, 2020. The new or amended
policies can be grouped into three broad categories:

The new or amended policies can be grouped into three broad categories:

1.    Changes to the Code of Ethics' applicability to a REALTORR's
activities;

2.    A new Standard of Practice under Article 10 prohibiting discriminatory
speech and conduct; and,

3.    Revisions to the definition of "Public Trust".

As association leaders, it is important to know that we are here to answer
any questions you may have on the changes or how to enforce them. As noted
in the

Ethics and Professional Standards Policies page, the Board of Directors
approved adoption of a

dards-policies-approved-by-BOD-11-13-2020.pdf> new Appendix XII to Part Four
of the Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual which lays out, with great
specificity, the proper application of Standard of Practice 10-5 and revised
Policy Statement 29 such that consistent application of these policies can
be achieved. NAR's professional standards policies also include a defined

and balances to protect members and evaluate potential Code violations.

NAR is also providing monthly training to leaders who wish to gain a deeper
understanding of the policy changes.
